Welcome to Empowered Widow
What now?
What happens after you’ve faced the hardest day, done the hardest thing, and felt the worst pain you’ve ever experienced? What happens when you know the end is near but you’re not ready? When you don’t want to deal with it, and you’re praying it will all go away?
For most of us who’ve loss a loved one or know that we will soon, what’s next is the final goodbye, whether we’re ready or not. Hidden between the planning, strained smiles and tears that can’t be held back, there are moments. Moments to remember. The moment you are writing the obituary and remember your loved one living – without pain or worry, and truly, honestly free. The moment you are sorting through photos and see their smile again and feel their laugh sink into your soul. The moment you know, deeply, that they’d want you to keep going, even though right now, you can’t fathom the thought. Those moments mean something. They don’t make it easier or okay, but they do allow you to honor them, they do give you something to smile about, and they remind you why you’re hurt – because you loved them. You still do. You always will.
I know these moments because I’ve been there. Twice. I lost my beloved sister-in-law and the love of my life within one 14-month period. When I lost Denise, my sister-in-law, I threw myself into the task of making her program – what some call an obituary. It might have been my escape, but all I knew at the time was how deeply I wanted to tell her story right, and how genuinely I wanted to honor her. My husband George saw something in that moment – he said through grieving, I’d found my gift. I never dreamed I’d be using it for him one year later. In planning to say goodbye to my George, I realized something – I could be both devastated and comforted at the same time. I knew he finally won his battle with cancer – he was finally pain free. In that moment, I decided to honor him by continuing the work he supported. Empowered Widow was born and so was my calling from God.
Whether through individual or group coaching, programs (obituary) creation, or DVD photo montage, I’m here to support those who are standing where I once stood. My team and I focus on lifting you up through heartfelt storytelling and confronting loss with never-ending love. We would love to serve you, be there for you, and help you push through.
